FORMER Blackburn schoolboy Lee Mack said this year’s Christmas special of his sit-com could have been its last.

The comedian’s BBC programme, Not Going Out, which he created, writes, and stars in, has dominated his life for the last eight years, he said.

He told a national newspaper: “The truth of the matter is it could be the last-ever episode of Not Going Out on Christmas Eve.

“For the last eight years Not Going Out has dominated my life.

“It takes about six months a year to write and two or three months to film, the bulk of the year.

“It’s time for a little down time now.”

After the show’s storyline took a dramatic twist, the 46-year-old comedian said: “Listen, it’s still a gaggy sitcom.

“I’m not pretending it’s some great big Shakespearean piece but it was just nice dipping the toes into the dramatic way of writing.

“I probably am starting to have a little bit of desire to get more into that world, which I never used to have.

“I’m absolutely desperate to be in Doctor Who.

“I would do anything, like what Frank Skinner did, really, a little cameo.”
