Family lantern workshops had taken place in the run-up to the event, with the lanterns being lit in St Paul’s Garden to mark the start.

Crowds gathered outside the Cathedral to watch an impressive fire and light show, as musicians illuminated in white lights formed a drumming circle, with a fire dancer in the centre.

Visitors then turned their attentions to the night sky, for a grand firework display.

The fireworks were set off to Christmas music as impressive pyrotechnics spelt out ‘Christmas’ and made the shape of a snowman.
