A DISABLED brother and sister from Blackburn have had their Christmas presents stolen in a “heartless” burglary while they slept in their home.

Distraught mum Yolanda Hillman, 47, said several wrapped presents were taken from their home in Hareden Brook Close, after she had lined them up against a “Santa wall” which she creates for her children every year in the front room.

She woke up on Sunday and found the front door open. The chain lock to the door had been broken.

The presents included a TV, DVD player, aftershave, a Star Wars toy and make-up.

But the raiders appear to have ignored other valuables in the house.

Mrs Hillman’s daughter, Kylie, 25, and son Christian, 23, former pupils of Newfield Special School, both suffer from Albright syndrome.

The disorder affects the bones, skin, and several hormone-producing tissues.

Mrs Hillman, who is married to Neil Hillman, 56, said: “I have always put the presents out early. I have got to do the best I can because my kids have got nothing else to look forward to.

“All our presents have been swiped by those wicked thieves and it will ruin Christmas for us.

“I will really struggle to have to buy all these things again, and it is so frightening to know someone has been in your house.

“The kids are so upset and I want the people who did this to feel guilty for what they have done.

“I do not know how they can torment us like this. It is completely heartless.

“There was also a framed picture of my mum, who passed away about seven years ago, which they knocked over and which was left smashed on the floor.”

Insp Andy Carter, of Lancashire Constabulary, appealed for witnesses to the burglary.

The raid happened overnight on Saturday and Sunday — and anyone with information is urged to come forward.

The break-in was reported to officers at 6.20am on Sunday.

Insp Carter confirmed that the burglars had forced entry to the house through the front door and stolen several items that had been wrapped as presents.

Anyone with information should call 101.
