PIECES of Blackburn history including a signed Rovers shirt and photographs of the now-demolished market hall have been buried in the town’s new bus station.
A special time capsule was buried in the foundations of one of the iconic loops of the futuristic £5 million structure off Ainsworth Street.

Yesterday, a steel box containing a snapshot of Blackburn life in 2014 and past generations was lowered into the ground. Among the items buried were a Blackburn Rovers shirt and team sheet signed by the full current squad, commemorative stamps and coins.
Also included were images the construction of the bus station and Cathedral Quarter and pictures of old trams and buses.
Football club manager Gary Bowyer said: “Rovers has played a key role in the town so we are delighted to be part of this historic event.”
