And in a glowing report, consolidating a ‘good’ rating at its last inspection, lead inspector David Selby said: “Students are and feel very safe in school. The school has managed the transfer to its new school buildings very well.

“Students show a high level of respect for adults and other students. This contributes to their outstanding behaviour.

“The quality of teaching, which is already good, is improving.

“This is leading to higher levels of achievement over time.”

Head teacher Des Callaghan said: “Our inspection was ‘no notice’. The team saw and reported on what takes place in St Bede’s, day in and day out, and should give parents even more confidence in the quality of the education that is provided.

“I am particularly pleased that the inspection team recognised that behaviour and safety of pupils is outstanding at St Bede’s, as indeed is pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development. I want to congratulate the whole school community on this fine report.”
