Police and paramedics were called after her partner, Alan West, found her unresponsive.

Mr West did not appear at the inquest to give evidence, but an account from his police statement was read to the court.

The hearing was told that the pair, who were both alcohol dependent, had been on a drink and drugs binge after Mrs Hunt had received approximately £5,000 in back payments from the benefits agency.

The inquest was told they had been smoking crack cocaine for a week and had been drinking around three litres of vodka per day alongside the cocaine.

The pair had also bought six bags of heroin from a drug dealer to help them sleep and the couple had initially smoked one bag.

After the heroin had little effect they had then started to inject the drug.

Mrs Hunt was later found dead by her partner.

Pathologist Dr Aslam said the drugs are particularly dangerous when taken together because of the way that they interact with one another.

He added that she had a fatty liver, which would have contributed to her death. He said that Mrs Hunt had died from cardio-respiratory failure, due to multi-drug toxicity.

Blackburn coroner Michael Singleton recorded a verdict of drug-related death.
