A MEMORIAL to some of Blackburn’s fallen war heroes has been replaced.
In 2008, memorial plaques salvaged from Hollin Bank Mission and St Bartholomew’s Church in the town were fastened to the side of Ewood Park.
The ‘Rovers Remembers’ display on the back of the Jack Walker Stand was unveiled at the time by Rovers’ club chaplain Ken Howles.
And ahead of Saturday’s 3-1 Championship victory over Wigan, the plaques were replaced by local stonemason Brent Stevenson.
The plaque replaces the one from inside Hollin Bank Mission, which was made of wood and had deteriorated over time. Mr Stevenson, who owns Brent Stevenson Memorials at Cherry Tree, said the new granite plaque would last for years.
