The brawl is said to have taken place after a man allegedly touched the bottom of a woman with Baptiste in Über Bar, in Poulton-le-Fylde.

Police said Baptiste, who is on loan from Bolton Wanderers, was arrested at 1.35am on on June 28 and spent time in the cells at Blackpool police station before being released on bail later the same day.

Baptiste, who lives in Lytham, attended Blackpool police station on Sunday where he was issued with a caution, officers said.

Baptiste, who made his Football League debut as a 17-year-old with Mansfield Town, played his first game for Rovers at Ewood Park on Friday in the 1-1 draw with Cardiff City.

A Lancashire Police spokesman said: “At 1.35am on Saturday, June 28 we received reports of an altercation outside Uber nightclub in Poulton-le-Fylde.

“There a 28-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault along with a 23-year-old man.

“The 28-year-old man spent time in the cells before being released on bail later the same day.

“On Sunday, August 10, a 28-year-old man from Lytham attended Blackpool police station where he was issued with an adult caution.

“There will also be no further action against the 23-year-old man.”

Über, a nightspot near Blackpool, regularly plays host to football stars and describes itself as ‘a sophisticated social playground’.

Elliott Simpson, owner of Uber nightclub, said: “We keep a really tight door, with a strict dress code and of age policy.

“We attract a lot of footballers because of this.

“This was an unfortunate incident.

“We heard it was because somebody allegedly pinched the bottom of a lady who was with Baptiste.

“This is not something that happens very often. I have been here 15 years and built up a good reputation.”

Spokesmen for both Blackburn Rovers and Bolton Wanders refused to comment yesterday.

Baptiste scored on his first Premier League appearance for Blackpool against Wigan Athletic in August 2010.

He joined their Lancashire rivals Bolton Wanderers on a free transfer in June 2013 and made the season-long loan switch to Rovers last month, making his debut at Ewood Park in Friday’s 1-1 draw with Cardiff City.

The 28-year-old, who enjoyed loan spells at Tamworth and Burton Albion as a youngster, was born in Sutton-in-Ashfield, and can play at centre-half or full-back.
