A YELLOW warning for severe weather has been issued for this morning across East Lancashire.
The Met Office is predicting the heavy rain falling during the rush hour could turn to ice as the skies clear and temperatures drop.
The rain could turn to snow on higher ground, bringing one to three centimetres, up to an inch, on areas over 984ft.
Forecasters have warned motorists and pedestrians to be aware of the potential for icy surfaces and some minor travel disruption.
