I am not at all surprised to hear of the Pavilion’s appalling catering.

We have used the Green Room for a meal before a show many times in the past but had noted a distinct decline in meal size and value for money in recent times.

Following a meal last September, more than a month before the November inspection, I had cause to make a written complaint to WPBC about the meal served and the fact that the chef was too busy to discuss it with me.

I suggested in my letter that an occasional inspection of the meals being served may be in order. I did not receive a reply and had to make a telephone call to confirm my complaint had been received.

It appears action at that time may have avoided the low rating received in November.

It is my understanding that the Green Room is another facility that has been let to an outside company as WPBC is unable to manage it successfully itself.

I hasten to add that the previous staff and cooks who managed the Green Room, many of whom are still at the Pavilion behind the bar and running the cafe downstairs, were excellent and it is a crying shame that they should see their previous efforts be reduced to the current state of affairs.

A further aggravating point is why on earth was the new Pavilion sign sited in such a position that many customers having a meal or drinks in the Green Room are no longer able to see our marvellous Esplanade?

That rather defeats the object of the large down-to-floor windows, doesn’t it?
