Access roads to Blackburn garages to close

BLACKBURN with Darwen council is to close two unnamed streets to a former group of garages off Gretna Street in Little Harwood.

Twin Valley homes want the small highways ‘stopped up’ as the garages at the rear of Whalley New Road are no longer used and they no longer have any purpose.

The social housing group owns all the surrounding land and asked the borough planning and highways committee to take the legal moves to shut the streets.

The committee agreed the two roads were no longer needed and authorised the council’s legal officers to apply for the ‘stopping up order’ from the town’s magistrates.

just like the L.T to get it wrong there is no gretna street in little harwood it`s gretna walk whalley new road roe lee if you are going to print something you should make sure you have got it right first of all.

Glad to see somebody was at work at 6:00 a.m. this morning at the LET to post this hugely significant piece of news. My life is enriched. Slow news day or what? More likely they're all off this week and it was uploaded automatically. Be very afraid when I retire - I vow to spend one vexatious hour per day posting drivel ridden comments. Probably regarding the local derby when Rovers play FC Darwen in whatever league they're both in (answers on a postcard, please) at that time (circa 2042, when I'm 80, in the unlikely event that I live that long). No doubt someone will think this is "false, abusive or malicious" and will complain, but I will take that risk.
