ACCRINGTON Stanley players were mobbed by football-mad children when they went back to school to encourage youngsters to support the club.
The club launched a community involvement campaign with visits to St Mary’s RC Primary School, Clayton-le-Moors, and Peel Park Primary School, Accrington.
Stanley players Michael Liddle, James Gray and Luke Clark were given the star treatment by excited pupils. As well as having a kick-around in the playground and showing off some skills, they signed autographs and posed for pictures.
Sharon Ogden, sports co-ordinator at Peel Park, said: “Most of them have never been to a football match so it’s a great opportunity for them. Plus, the more we can get them interested in sports, the more of a positive impact it has on them from a health perspective.”
