PM praises East Lancashire flood response

PRIME Minister David Cameron has praised emergency services in East Lancashire for the handling of the weekend floods.

Mr Cameron made the comments in response to local Tory MP Jake Berry at Prime Minister’s questions in the House of Commons.

The Rossendale and Darwen backbencher told the Prime Minister: “On Friday night, the towns of Bacup, Craw-shawbooth, and Darwen, were subject to unprecedented flooding when the River Irwell and the River Darwen burst their banks at the same time.

“Will you join me in congratulating the emergency services on working through the night and, in particular, the residents of Crawshawbooth, who came out in the morning to clean up their village so that it was able to welcome the Olympic torch less than 12 hours later?”

The Prime Minister replied: “I certainly join you in praising the emergency services.

“These were really very dangerous and damaging floods, caused by a huge amount of rainfall over a very short period.

“The emergency services performed superbly, and I hope to go and see that for myself, but now we are in the recovery phase, and the phase when people start to look at going back into their homes.

Mr Cameron cont-inued : “There will be all sorts of questions about insurance, and about how we can help, and I am sure that he will make those arguments here in the Commons and that the Government will do all they can to help.”

Great service from the Emergency crews. But what about the council? I sent an email to BwD council Friday reporting that the drains on our road were completely blocked with silt making the water flow down the road like a river adding to the deluge at the Savoy garage area in Darwen. Their response, a nice email back to say it would be investigated. Monday sent round a road sweeper???? As if that would help. It was a sludge Gulper required. Thursday's deluge 16:00 hrs Once again a river down the road, once again the savoy area flooded.
Come on council get it sorted.

Today we wake up to a very dangerous world the Obama health care plan is coming to Europe thats why the government is currently totoalising the NHS.

David Cameroon hasn't got time for the North West of England there is no votes to protect in the north. If this flood had happened in the home counties then I am sure he would have visited those area's immediately promising that all councils will support and do all in their power regardless of cost to get the victims of this flood back into their homes and rehoused for those facing destitution through the forces of nature. This planet is saying NO to how it's being run and it will fight back, these floods are part of that process and it's only a matter of time before she shows what she can really do to it's enemies..
Living the ends times in BB1 or any other area is a terrifying time but the way to approach these demonic times is to console yourself by the fact that you got a front seat after all those thousands of years of humanity living on this planet you got a front seat to witness the end times.

Over the years I have continually told LCC about blocked rain water drains. Like A Darener all you get is an e mail. Whatever happened to regular clearences? Surely they must know by now which drains are blocked regularly.
