PLANS to extend a controversial gypsy site in Blackburn have been rejected by council planning bosses.
Jimmy Evans had applied for consent to retain five caravans, a chalet, an amenity block, and a WC building, on a former coal merchant’s site at the rear of Vincent Street, Ewood.
In July 2010, Blackburn with Darwen Council gave him permission for two caravans, a chalet, and an amenity block.
Neighbours said allowing the extension was increasing traffic congestion and harming house prices.
Council officers said the extension is ‘considered to be harmful to the residential amenity of the occupants of the existing surrounding residential properties’, and contrary to planning policies.
