Blackburn Rovers assistant manager John Jenson has been fined for driving whilst using a hand-held mobile phone.

Jensen, the former Danish international central midfielder, pleaded guilty by letter to Hyndburn Magistrates’ Court last week.

Jensen, 46, of Corn Mill Mews, Whalley, admitted using a hand held mobile phone while driving a 2010 BMW three series in The Drive, Brockhall Village, where Rovers train, on April 27.

He was fined £130 with £65 costs and was given three points on his licence.

At the same court former Blackburn Rovers defender Pascal Chimbonda avoided a driving ban after admitting a driving offence.

The 32-year-old from Loughton, Essex, pleaded guilty by letter to a charge of failing to give information relating to the identification of the driver of a vehicle who was alleged to have been guilty of an offence.

The vehicle was a 4.8litre Porsche Cayenne estate being driven on New Year's Eve, December 31.

Chimbonda was fined £220 with £65 costs and given six penalty points on his licence by Hyndburn magistrates.

The fines come as manager Steve Kean was given an 18-month driving ban for drink-driving.

His claims that his drink was spiked following the game with Manchester United last May were rejected by a judge.

Earlier this year the Lancashire Telegraph reported that several players have been fined for speeding after being caught out by the same fixed camera on the A59 at Osbaldeston, after the limit was reduced from 40mph to 30mph.
