THIS is the image of a man being hunted by police after a woman was indecently assaulted in the street.

A 58-year-old woman was walking along Lower Antley Street, Accrington in the middle of the afternoon when she was approached by a stranger.

Police said that she was persistently questioned by the man and ignored him.

But he continued to walk with her for a short distance onto Holland Street, asking her where she was going.

When he received no response from her, he made a lewd remark before grabbing her and touching her inappropriately.

The woman managed to struggle free and the man ran from the scene back in the direction of Lower Antley Street.

Officers investigating have released an Evofit image of a man they wish to speak to in connection with the offence.

Police are asking people to come forward if they recognise the face in the computerised image.

The man is described as Asian, in his late teens to early 20s and skinny.

At the time of the offence he was wearing a light grey coloured hooded top.

Police Constable Andy McGinty is hoping people may have information relating to the offence which happened at around 4pm on Monday April 11.

He said: “This happened in broad daylight and so I would appeal to anyone who may have been in the area at the time to think back to try and remember if they saw anything at all suspicious that could help us with our inquiries.

“I would also appeal for anyone who may recognise the Evofit image or the description of this man to come forward and contact police.”

Anyone with any information can contact police on 01254 51212 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
