A FORMER Rossendale Conservative councillor was appointed a district judge on the northern circuit.
Solicitor Ian Pickup of Helmshore was set to leave his practice at Holt and Longworth, Bank Street, Rawtenstall, and be sworn in as a judge at Manchester Crown Court.
His new role would take him to county and high courts in Blackburn, Burnley, Nelson, Accrington and Rawtenstall.
