A MASSIVE new bakery has been officially opened by Blackburn with Darwen Mayor Councillor Jack Bury.
Inter Link Foods' new 32,000 square foot bakery (pictured) on the Shadsworth Business Park already employs 170 people at its premises at Crossfield Street.
It has been growing at around 25 per cent a year according to its chief executive Alwin Thompson, and needed to expand. The company also has bakeries at Oldham, Nottingham and Heywood near Rochdale.
The bakers expect to bring 110 new full time jobs to Blackburn over the next 12 months as they expand to provide more and more cakes and pies for supermarkets such as Asda and Morrisons.
