Hindley Giants u/16s 8 Thatto Heath Crusaders 12

CRUSADERS moved into the semi-finals of the Lancashire Cup with this fine win over much-fancied rivals from Wigan.

Wayne Haselden opened the scoring for Crusaders with a well-taken try in the corner and it was left to Carl Forber to seal the match, finishing off a length-of-the-field handling move. Forber also converted both tries.

A fine all-round display from Ben Prescott rightly earned him the man-of-the-match award, closely followed by Keiron Maddocks and Wayne Haselden, with James Graham, Chris Harrison and Mike Saunders also playing very well, while a timely Tim Critchley interception and two last-ditch Saunders tackles denied Hindley as they piled on the pressure late in the game.

Crusaders now look forward to a semi final against Wigan St Cuthberts or Ince St Williams.
