A KNIFEMAN is in custody and another man is awaiting his fate, as a two-week trial comes to an end at Burnley Crown Court.

William Fullerton, 38, of Hornby Street, Accrington, was found guilty of wounding Michael Clitheroe, with intent to do him grievous bodily harm and also two counts of affray.

He was remanded in custody for pre-sentence and psychiatric reports by Judge Raymond Bennett, who said he wanted information on whether the defendant was a future risk to the public.

Co-defendant Dominic 0'Sullivan, 42, of Mallard Place, Oswaldtwistle, was cleared of wounding Mr Clitheroe with intent and also affray.

The jury is still deliberating on a second count of affray, with an alternative of threatening, abusive insulting words or behaviour against him.

0'Sullivan's brother, William, 46, of Heron Way, Oswaldtwistle, was found not guilty of affray, the only charge he faced and was discharged from the dock.

The jury had been told how Mr Clitheroe had his neck slashed in an early hours fracas after he had been to Afrika's nightclub in Accrington.

The attack was partly captured on video and afterwards Fullerton, said to have had two knives, was seen taunting his victim and acting triumphantly.

Fullerton was later spotted by police with blood on his clothing and was seen trying to hide a large knife on the windowsill of a pub.

All defendants denied all the allegations.
