LEIGH RU's difficult season continued as they went down 35-7 at highly-placed Warrington.

The home side were too big and too strong for the Leigh forwards and took a commanding early lead with three unconverted tries and a penalty.

Leigh, who have been slow starters this season, had their best period of the game and were rewarded with a fine try in the corner from skipper Ross Fletcher. Fletcher also converted from the touchline.

The second half saw Warrington re-assert their authority and score two converted tries. Leigh's young side battled bravely, refusing to throw in the towel in the face of some vigorous exchanges.

Centres Steve Lee and Paul Lester played strongly and the return of Phil Robinson in the forwards was an unexpected bonus.

Leigh now to transfer their undoubted spirit into points when they entertain the Isle of Man Vagabonds tomorrow.
