INSTEAD of the usual nativity play, the juniors at a Leigh School enthralled parents and teachers with a performance all about a little girl and a big, bad wolf.

The junior children starred in Little Red Riding Hood at Newton West Park Primary School.

Twenty youngsters made up the cast, while the other pupils sang in a 100-strong choir.

Headteacher Lynne Carroll said: "The children did very well in bringing across the humour in the play and delivering their lines.

"We did a nativity with the infants and we chose Little Red Riding Hood for the juniors because of the script. It has a lot of humour and it also teaches the children about different uses of language."

The children wowed a packed audience of parents in two performances dressed in costumes made especially for them by parents and staff.
