BOLTON Wanderers with eight wins in the last 10 league outings, are looking to extend their promotion push at the expense of struggling Tranmere Rovers at the Reebok Stadium tomorrow.

With Blackburn Rovers narrowing the gap on Bolton after beating neighbours Preston this week, the pressure is mounting as Sam Allardyce goes looking for a League double over John Aldridge's men.

After being rested for last weekend's cup tie with Yeovil, Allardyce brings back his front-line troops, with starts for Gudni Bergsson, Robbie Elliott, Bo Hansen, key defender Colin Hendry, on loan from Coventry City, who refused him permission to play against Yeovil, will also return.

Recent signing Nicky Summerbee is not considered ready to make his debut. He has been pencilled in for next week's away fixture at Sheffield Wednesday.

A club spokesman said: "Nicky has not played enough games this season. We have arranged a friendly behind closed doors to give him, and others, valuable match practice."

Club captain Mike Whitlow is also seeking match fitness. After missing the opening months of the season through suspension and injury, he was delighted to come through 90 minutes Cup action against Yeovil. He is likely to be on the bench against Tranmere.

Experienced striker Dean Holdsworth however, is sidelined after incurring a gashed lip in the Yeovil match. The injury required 25 stitches and Holdsworth has since undergone plastic surgery to his face. He could be out for at east two weeks.

Full back John O'Kane will also be missing. He saw red after throwing a punch in the Boxing Day encounter with Sheffield Wednesday and his three-match ban begins with the Tranmere visit.
