CHRISTMAS was extra special for many youngsters in the borough -- thanks to the generosity of the local folk who have responded to the Mayor's Toy Appeal.
The huge response to the festive appeal has ensured that around 500 young people, up to the age of 16, received toys and games.
Gifts were distributed to youngsters nominated by social workers and family support teams, including children from poor families, youngsters who are the victims of domestic violence and boys and girls who are disabled.
