ON-SONG Clarets front man John Mullin is planning to take out his frustration on Sheffield Wednesday after forcing his way back into the Burnley line-up.

Mullin started only his tenth game of the campaign when helping the Clarets to victory at Watford on Tuesday night.

And the versatile forward is hoping he's done enough to face relegation-threatened Wednesday at Hillsborough this weekend.

Mullin said: "It was nice to get a game. I haven't played as much as I would have liked this year so it was nice to get a chance and be involved in a good win.

"We've hit a rocky spell over the last couple of months, everyone knows that, after starting off so well so from a team's point of view it was a good win and from a personal point of view I was happy to play.

"I'd like to get a chance now to get a few games before the end of the season because it's been a frustrating season.

"But in saying that, I think the team has done ever so well and the club can hold its head high this season."

Mullin has been unable to hold down a regular place up front or in midfield this term after playing a big part in last year's promotion campaign.

But manager Stan Ternent's bold decision to employ three forwards at Vicarage Road, allied to injuries to Glen Little and Graham Branch, gave the former Sunderland man an opportunity he grabbed with both hands with an eye-catching performance.

He said: "There was some good movement up there and it was an attacking formation.

"I think it suits us really when we go at teams because we've got the players to do it but I can play there or deeper and I'm just happy to get in at the minute."

Mullin sustained a suspected broken nose when collecting a whack in the face just before half-time.

But that won't keep him out of the trip to Wednesday where a Burnley win would keep the top six in sight.

He added: "We've got 11 games left now and we've got to try and go out and win every one of them. It might not be possible but we've got to go out with that attitude and it would be nice to give the supporters some good performances to cheer about and see what happens by the end of the season."

Wednesday have pulled away from the danger zone since Peter Shreeves replaced Paul Jewell, taking 13 points from six games.

However, Mullin is looking for another positive approach from the re-vitalised Clarets in front of what is certain to be a big away support.

He said: "They are a big club with a great stadium. They've picked up a bit of late so they're in a bit of form. It's not too far for everyone to go so I'm sure we will have a big following there and it will be a great game.

"It's nice to get an away win after being so long without one. We've got to go there with confidence and maybe attack them and see what happens."

Meanwhile, Bradford City have dismissed speculation linking striker Robbie Blake with a possible move to Turf Moor.

Bantams boss Jim Jefferies reiterated that Blake remains a part of his plans for next season.
