VOLUNTEER bar staff are required to help out at functions held in St. John's Church. Full training will be given.

BURNLEY and Pendle Hospice are to benefit from the collection taken at the Christmas Concert this year. Tickets for the Christmas Concert are now on sale at £4. The Concert takes place on December 5 and 6 at 7.30pm. Tickets can be obtained from Margaret on 424955.

WORSTHORNE Cubs are currently planning their winter activities which will include a weekend away in a Youth Hostel. The Burnley District Swimming Gala was won by Worsthorne Cubs for the second time running. The winning swimmers now go forward to represent Burnley District against other Scout districts in the Belsey Cup in November. More information from Akela on 07900 992158.

THE Ladies Group Christmas outing takes place on December 5, when they travel to Gawthorpe Hall, to be entertained by the Christmas Festival of Music followed by lunch at The Calf's Head, Worston. On Friday morning the group will be entertained by a talk on New England. All welcome.

A SMALL library has been established in the Reading Rooms in aid of Burnley and Pendle Hospice. Books can be borrowed on Friday mornings.

The new benches in Church Square have been provided by Burnley Borough Council and the Parish Council, one bench being funded from the Opportunities Fund and the other from the Parish Council precept.

THE Parish Council are now investigating the cost of providing notice boards for Pike Hill and the village.

THE Keep Worsthorne-with-Hurstwood Rural Campaign Group are to undertake training offered by the Campaign for the Protection of Rural England on how to present their case at the forthcoming Public Inquiry on the Burnley and District Local Plan. Burnley Borough Council have objected to the Pendle Local Plan, as they feel too many green fields are being designated for development.
