BLACKBURN Rovers are facing a potential goalkeeper crisis ahead of Monday night's game against Everton.

German rookie David Yelldell has joined Alan Kelly on the sidelines after a shoulder injury flared up and ruled him out of last night's reserve game against Bolton at Morecambe's Christie Park.

Yelldell could be missing for up to a month which leaves Brad Friedel as the only fit senior keeper in Graeme Souness's first team squad.

Rovers will now contact the Premier League again to seek a special dispensation to sign Aston Villa stopper Peter Enckelman as cover after a similar approach was turned down earlier this week.

If the club are granted permission then Enckelman would have to be registered before 12 noon tomorrow in order to be eligible for the Everton game. Failing that, 18-year-old Academy youngster Steven Drench could make the bench against the Toffees.

"The latest blow to our plans is a shoulder injury to David Yelldell and we will now be contacting the Premier League again to request permission to sign a keeper on loan," said Rovers' chief executive John Williams.
