LOW unemployment in East Lancashire and an acute shortage of machinists was revealed.
A survey showed there were 6,500 vacancies in spinning, weaving and finishing across the North West.
Yet Blackburn's unemployment level was just 0.8 per cent, Burnley's 1.1 and Accrington 1.2. The North West jobless total was 51,821.
