RADCLIFFE Boro hot-shot Jody Banim could be about to sign for Conference high-flyers Shrewsbury Town.

The diminutive striker leads the UniBond League scoring charts with 20 goals and would be sorely missed by the Stainton Park side.

Manager Kevin Glendon said: "We are just waiting to see whether Shrewsbury want to take their initial interest further.

"Jody is vitally important to us but there is nothing I would like to see more than him playing in the Conference or possibly the league.

"He won't be going on the cheap though. The bidding will only start at the certain figure we have in mind," Glendon added.

Banim's amazing scoring run of fourteen consecutive games, that broke both club and league records, came to a grinding halt against Worksop Town on Tuesday night.

However, Glendon saw some positives: "We played our part in a fabulous game of football on Tuesday and we gave our spectators full entertainment for their money.

"Obviously, I am disappointed with the end result but Worksop gave us a lot of respect and that shows how far we have come. I expect Worksop to be up there challenging at the end of the season."

The Worksop game saw a marked improvement on the performance at Frickley, which saw the Boro crash out of the FA Trophy at the first hurdle.

"Saturday was a mess for us and we gave sloppy goals away. Frickley is not an easy place to visit and hopefully we won't have to go again this season," was the the manager's frank assessment.

The Boro boss is pleased with the way his side is playing, especially the younger players.

"It was good to see Danny Hooper on the scoresheet on Tuesday because he gives us a lot of passion. Danny and Chris Denham have been fantastic since they joined us," Glendon enthused.
