ONE of the greatest days of our lives - that was the verdict of Rovers fans as they left the Millennium Stadium with the widest smiles in Cardiff.

Anthony Brine, 31, a teacher, of Mill Hill, Blackburn: said: "This is great for the town.

"We're back in Europe and we're back on a winning trail.

"The team look fantastic. Now we have to stay in the Premiership."

Brother Mark Brine, 33, a postman of Mill Hill, said: "It was a stormy second half but Rovers held on.

"Now for the UEFA cup. It's been a fantastic day and I'm over the moon we've won. The look on the faces of the Spurs fans made it all worthwhile!"

His father Patrick, 61, a retired BNFL inspector, of Mill Hill, said: "I thought the stadium was fantastic and I've never seen anything like it.

"It's brilliant for the fans and the town. The team that Souey has put together is great. Especially Andy Cole. Let's just hang on to our Premiership place now."

Mark Bradshaw, 30, a teacher at Norden High School, Rishton and of Clayton le Moors, said: "I'm glad we won. It's the first major final I've been to and I'll never forget it.

"This is a big boost for the town and every Rovers fan who may feel down about our Premiership place at the moment."

Steve Brechen , 31, PE teacher of the same school, said: "It was a pity about the weather but Rovers winning more than made up for that.

"Now we must focus on the Premiership. If we can play that well we don't deserve to go down. David Dunn for England."

Chris Seed, 61, of Whalley, said: "It was a great atmosphere and a great day, one I'll never, ever forget.

"I think we had been written off by everyone but we proved them wrong. We travelled down with friends and the journey was well worthwhile."

Janine Rothwell, of Chatburn, Clitheroe, and 30 the day before the game, said: "It was the best birthday present I could have wished for. What better way to celebrate your 30th?

"The game was excellent and I'm so relieved we won. I couldn't have wished for a better way to spend the day."

Ian Seed, 30, of Clitheroe, said: "They were brilliant. We didn't let the weather dampen our spirits and I'm just so relieved we won.

"There were some very anxious moments for us. I don't have any nails left. But what a day and what a finish. Coley is my hero."

Carole Roberts, 50, said: "We came down with friends and it has been a superb weekend.

"He's only been here seven weeks but Andy Cole is already a legend at Rovers. They all played brilliantly and we're all so proud of Graeme Souness"

Andrew Stuart, 48, of Haslingden, said: "I'm over the moon. It's been one of my proudest moments as a Rovers fan.

"I'll never forget this day. It will go down in history."

Chris Astley, 25, of Blackburn, said: "It was a really good atmosphere and a great game although it was tense at the end.

"But it's the results that count and this is one of the best Rovers have had in a long time. Yahoo!"
