PEOPLE in the corridors and offices of academicism in Blackburn College have decided that "hobby classes" are no longer affordable.

For many the classes are a therapy that keeps them out of doctors surgeries; a discipline; something to stretch their capabilities; a social interaction and a learning opportunity.

The people who decided to close these classes have often been funded by the very people they seek to deprive. We contributed taxes and rates over many years from meagre wages without receiving the benefits so freely available today to some. We do not beg. We have earned and deserve better.
