CATHERINE Barry's idea (Letters, March 17) about putting a roundabout on Bolton Road, Radcliffe, near to Harper Fold Road, is ridiculous. How can you have a roundabout 10 yards from a pelican crossing?

Anyway, the problem with speeding drivers is at night when "boy racers" and speed freaks who have never grown up are on the road.

Equally ridiculous are her comments about teenagers "loitering" in the road. Was she never a teenager? And I repeat: the real problem is with speeding drivers, nothing else.

People in Radcliffe are fighting for safer roads, supported by a recent RAC survey which concluded that speed cameras have cut deaths by 71 per cent.
