Investigation into Darwen BNP candidate

OFFICIALS are investigating one candidate in the Darwen Town Council elections after the Lancashire Telegraph told them he was convicted for election fraud four years ago and believed to have been banned from stand-ing in elections.

BNP member Robin Evans pleaded guilty in December 2005 to two counts of forging signatures on a nomination paper for the 2004 Earcroft, Darwen, by-election and was prosecuted under the Representation of the People Act 1983.

He completed 60 hours of community service and was reported at the time as being banned from standing in elections for five years.

Evans, who is nominated for the Sudell ward, insists he is eligible to stand.

Returning officer Graham Burgess said: “This matter was reported to us and we are looking into it.”

He said he did not want to comment further until the final decision had been reached next week as to whether Mr Evans was allowed to stand.

And Robin Evans is only one of only two BNP candidates for Darwen Town Council to live in Darwen.

Yes, folks, would you believe it? Six of the eight BNP candidates live in Blackburn. So if you vote BNP you are voting for Darwen Town Council to be run by Councillors who live in Blackburn.

It seems that the BNP could only find on candidate who lives in Darwen who is not a convicted criminal. Maybe Darreners are just too sensible?

Robin Evans has paid for his mistakes, what about the rest of the scumbags that have put their names forward.

You the Telegraph reported this story, why don't you say the truth on the previous Elections where the bent council of Blackburn with Darwen were found to be ripping up postal votes so please do not blow your trumpet on on e person. If Robin was a candidate for AN Other this would not have been reported.

I've not seen any story of Blackburn with Darwen Council ripping up ballot papers or heard of any such court case.

Robin Evans is a convicted electoral fraudster. If any of the other candidates are, then name them.

Perhaps you will give the years and the names of the people involved in the activities you allege? Or perhaps not?

Owain, doesn't the BNP Leader, Griffin, have a conviction for inciting racial hatred ? I think you will find that he has ! Also, several other BNP candidates. As Mr Robin Evans himself said ''the local (BNP) branch in Blackburn is largely made up of football hooligans and drug dealers.'' Perhaps you can shed light on the convictions of WELLS, JEAL and HINDLE ?? And SMITH in Burnley. ???

What about the claw hammer attack on a BNP member by left wing fascists? Forgot about that did we? I used to log on to the UAF website. I used to be a Labour activist and was interested in what they had to say. I hardly ever do anymore. I did so today, and I have to say I have never seen anything so sad in my life. They are saying that Griffin could be prosecuted for having Nigal Fargage's picture on their website. Hilarious, hasn't it been on there for years. Then they are ringing up some pub or other to intimidate the landlords into cancelling a BNP meeting. Then they say, 'not to worry' YouGov polls say that the BNP will only get 4% of the vote. Then why the panic? If they are as useless as you all say they are, you have nothing to worry about, do you? However, I then loged on to the BNP website and was blown away by two video's covering their leaflet distribution and a look at the people involved in it. And then there's the people attending meetings all over the country. Where are all the skinheads? Answer - there arent any.Check out the Ukip leaflet. It's more rascist than the BNP's. We have a Jewish BNP councillor in her second term. We can't have that can we?

I certainly condemn all violence Sylvie M. But Mr Evans himself said that Blackburn BNP ''is largely made up of football hooligans and drug dealers''. He left the BNP to form his own Nazi Party the British National Socialist Party. He got 14 votes I think in a by-election. He has now re-joined the BNP. The Blackburn and Burnley branches of the BNP have numerous members with serious criminal records. That is fact not fiction. I personally saw a BNP leafletter with 'Combat 18' tatooed on his arm. 1 = A 8 = H. i.e, Adolf Hitler. There are some very nasty characters about. Do you seriously think the BNP videos / leaflets will show this type of person ? Of course not !

Labour must lose in Darwen or they will secure another Commons majority. People can safely vote Tory to stop them without giving Cameron his own majority, whereas in Accrington a Tory vote is too risky. A win there probably means a Tory Commons majority, so in Accrington Labour must be supported to stop them.

Why on earth would anyone want the Tories to become the largest party in Parliament ?! Their proposed cuts would decimate the progress we have been seeing in Darwen under Labour. (e.g. new health centre, new school & 6th form, new leisure centre etc etc)

I hadn't realised that the people we elected to Darwen Town Council would make up the majority in Parliament. Wow!

So there are some people who think we should be voting for people in Darwen depending on what we think of people in London, the BNP think we should be voting for people from Blackburn to run Darwen Town Council. Maybe we could just vote for the best Darwen candidates who are standing and what they promise to do for Darwen. Or is that just too radical?

For once I find myself in agreement with you why have people from Blackburn been put up both by the BNP and the Cons
