Jack Straw relaxes curfew for Jade Goody's fiance for wedding

BLACKBURN MP Jack Straw has stepped in as Justice Secretary to allow Jade Goody's and her fiance to spend their wedding night together.

The Ministry of Justice said the terms of Jack Tweed's curfew, imposed following his release from prison, would be changed to reflect the "exceptional" circumstances.

Max Clifford, the couple's publicist, said: "We are absolutely thrilled.

"It will be the dream finish to her dream day, and it makes so much difference.

"Our heartfelt thanks from Jade and from Jack for allowing him to stay the evening in these very special circumstances."

The change to Tweed's release conditions mean he will be able to stay at the couple's reception until 3pm on the day after their wedding instead of having to return to his mother's home by 7pm immediately after the couple tie the knot.

Mr Straw said: "It is crucial that offenders are treated equally within the rules regardless of the publicity surrounding their case, but I was satisfied that it was reasonable to allow this."

A spokesman added: "Jack has enormous sympathy for Jade Goody and her family at this time.

"She is showing extraordinary courage and his thoughts are with her and her family."

Mr Tweed was jailed for 18 months last September after assaulting a teenager with a golf club.

He was released early from Wayland Prison in Norfolk last month on condition he wears a tag and returns to his mother's house in Essex by 7pm each day.

Terminally-ill Goody, who has been given weeks to live, was said to have been "heartbroken" at the possibility of parting from her new husband after the wedding on Sunday.

Sure he 'stepped in', when he cottoned on to how much publicity this would get. The parol board would have let him out anyway.Taking advantage of someone elses misfortune for self promotion.

Mekon .. the parole board has already refused his application which is why Mr Straw stepped in - and rightly so in my opinion.

And (akon) what on god's green earth has michael shields got to do with this story? Get a life and give these people a break for fexake.

All he has done is change the address from his mothers house to whichever hotel he is staying at because he is getting married. The curfew isnt being dropped.

The purpose of the tag is to ensure the parolees whereabouts are monitore and that hasn't stopped. Its not one rule for them and one rule for others, its an application that should have been granted in the first place.

He should be allowed to spend the rest of Jade's life with her. If you think otherwise then you're an heartless git.

An annoying z-list celebrity she might be.. none the less they are people.

Does that apply to every murderer, rapist and general scum bag that also have a dying partner?.Im not a heartless git just a realist, thousands of people are dying with cancer and i fail to see why this wretched individual is being given so much media attention and special treatment by Jack straw.

a) If she has got cancer, I have sympathy (mostly for her kids, not her). However, I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks it could just be a huge publicity stunt.

b) Would Jack Straw do the same for Joe Bloggs who wants to marry his fiance Jane Doe, who is also dying of cancer? What do you think?
