A ‘DISGUSTING’ email which slams immigrants has been sent around a health trust by mental health workers in Lancashire.

Lancashire Care NHS Trust has investigated but declined to reveal whether any workers have been disciplined.

The e-mail contains text said to be from a national newspaper, with the headline “Immigrants, not Brits, must adapt”.

The author claims not to be against immigration, but says multi-cuturalism ‘dilutes our sovereignty’.

It goes on to say immigrants should go and live elsewhere if Christian principles offend them.

The trust launched an investigation after a copy was passed to the Lancashire Telegraph by a member of staff, who said she was “disgusted”.

A trust spokesman said; “Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust has robust internet security systems in place to prevent unwanted and offensive e-mails being received.

"However in common with all organisations, sometimes e-mails can come through the firewall and content management system.

“The trust has investigated and while it is not appropriate to comment on any individuals involved, the views expressed in the e-mail are not supported by the trust in any way.”

The staff member who contacted the Lancashire Telegraph said: “It made me feel sick.

"These people deal with some of the most vulnerable and desperate members of society – people of all races and religions – and if they cannot be tolerant they cannot do their jobs properly.

“A lot of people received it but didn’t send it on, but clearly other people did, including some of my colleagues.”

The e-mail was mainly sent around personal accounts, rather than professional addresses, but appeared in NHS inboxes at least three times in July this year.
