A 22-year-old man who was late returning a hire car crashed into another vehicle as he turned into the rental company’s yard.
Blackburn magistrates heard the insurance for the vehicle expired at the time the car was due back meaning that Sunny Qasim Jabbar had been uninsured for three hours.
Jabbar, 22, of Queens Road, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to driving without due care and without insurance.
He was fined £300 with £75 costs and banned from driving for six months.
Philippa White, prosecuting, said that as Jabbar turned into the premises of A and S Car Hire in Fort Street he pulled into the path of another car giving the female driver no chance of avoiding a collision.
She suffered a cut to her face which needed 22 stitches.
The hire contract and the insurance that went with it had expired at 1.37pm and the collision occurred at 4.55 pm.
