A Blackburn musician and his band are set to play at the same festival as Scouting For Girls and Bonnie Tyler – and they have also released a new single.

Jacob Reddy and his bandmates, Liam Riley (drums), Liam Farrell (lead guitar), and Theo Brockbank (bass guitar), will perform at Brit Fest in Cheshire, which takes place on July 5.

The festival is headlined by Bonnie Tyler, Scouting For Girls, Heather Small and many more artists are on the line-up.

Jacob said: “We are really looking forward to it.

"Brit Fest is being headlined by Scouting For Girls who are one of my biggest inspirations.

“We are buzzing to play it and can’t wait for the summer to come around so we can get out to play more festivals.”

Jacob and his band are also set to perform at Darwen Live, which is set to take place at the end of May.

He said: “We are looking forward to playing the main stage of Darwen Live.

"It’s a festival that I have been going to for longer than I can remember.

“It’s the first time I have played here, so to go from watching the act to actually playing is amazing.”

Visitors to these festivals can expect to hear some of the band’s original songs on the setlist, including Crazy which was released on Friday, April 26.

Jacob said the song is the first collaborative track he has made since transitioning from solo artist to band member.

Jacob, who performed at Glastonbury Festival last year, said: “Crazy is a special song for me.

"I am now working with a band and it was the first time a song that the whole of the band had an input towards and wrote together.

“I think the style of the song is different than some of my older stuff. It was a really nice change to start writing in a different style of writing, working on a song together.

“It is helpful having more ideas going around as a band. We all get on really well, which makes the whole process much more fun and easier.

“People have really enjoyed listening to Crazy. I have received many compliments from people who are enjoying it and it is getting a good number of streams at the minute – although we are still working on pushing it out there.

“We are set to release more music as the year goes on – we hope to [release] something special towards the end of the year."

Crazy follows previous single Breaking Me Down as an example of Jacob’s “new, more mature sound”.

Jacob describes his new music as ‘grit pop’ - "indie rock with catchy melodies, instant hooks and passionate choruses".

He hopes Crazy will introduce even more people to his music.

With 13 singles under his belt, Jacob has already achieved more than 300,000 Spotify streams, played in front of crowds of more than 5,000 people, sold out a headline gig at Manchester’s iconic Deaf Institute and created a song, Ewood Lights, for Blackburn Rovers.

Crazy is available to listen to on all major music streaming platforms.
