Police have issued a warning after an attempted break-in of a shed in Clayton-le-Moors.

Officers were called to Duke Street at around 7.30pm on Thursday, February 22.

A person approached the rear of a property and attempted to break into a person’s shed.

It is thought the offender was wearing dark coloured jogging bottoms and a light coloured jacket. 

A warning has been issued, urging residents to ensure outbuildings, sheds, houses and vehicles are locked and secure with any valuables kept out of sight.

A police spokesperson said: “You are receiving this message to make you aware of a recent burglary that has happened on Duke Street, Clayton le Moors. 

“This evening at approximately 7.30pm we have received reports of a burglary that occurred on Duke Street, where the offender has approached the rear of a property and attempted to break into the victims shed. 

“We would like to urge all residents to ensure your outbuildings, sheds, houses and vehicles are locked and secure with any valuables kept out of sight.

 “Additionally, if you have any information / CCTV / Ring doorbell footage regarding this incident, or saw anyone in and around the area of Duke Street this evening acting suspiciously please contact us, any information is greatly appreciated.

“We believe the offender was wearing dark coloured joggers and a light coloured jacket."
