A fundraiser is being held in memory of a woman who died from brain cancer to mark what would have been her 53rd birthday.

Kirsten Tootle from Clayton-le-Moors died on January 18 2022 aged 51, just three weeks after being diagnosed with brain cancer.

Kirsten, who left behind three daughters and two stepsons, as well as husband, Kevin, had also suffered with MS since 1997, although she controlled this with medication.

The fundraiser, which is being held this weekend, will hope to raise much-needed cash for the East Lancashire branch of the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Kirsten’s husband, Kevin, said: “My wife Kirsten passed away on January 18 2022 aged 51 of brain cancer, three weeks after her diagnosis, but she had suffered with MS since her diagnosis in 1997.

“The MS was under control with medication although she still had relapses quite a few times, but to look at her you wouldn’t know.

“So on Saturday September 2 we are holding a fundraiser on what would have been her 53rd birthday and will donate any monies to the Blackburn/Hyndburn/Clitheroe branch of the multiple sclerosis society in her memory, as I know it’s what she would’ve wanted.

“At the moment we have outside undercover entertainment from 2pm until 6pm, then from 7pm till 7.45pm I will be singing inside the pub doing 45 minutes of the music she liked.

“From 8pm there will be a raffle and auction.

“Everyone who has bought tickets and donated prizes has been fantastic and the response has been overwhelming.

“Kirsten left three daughters, two stepsons and, at the time, four grandchildren, but we now have a fifth.”

Some of the items that can be won in the auction and raffle are a week’s accommodation in either Benalmadena or Tenerife, a 55in TV, an adventure flight for one hour from Blackpool airport, a full day tattoo voucher, plus many more.

The fundraiser will be held at the Old England Forever pub on Church Street in Clayton-le-Moors from 7pm onwards.
