Pupils at a Feniscowles primary school had the "best day ever" after two members of the Blackburn Rovers squad paid a visit.
Rovers duo Ryan Hedges and Harry Pickering paid a special visit to the Trust’s partner primary school, Feniscowles Primary, earlier this week.
Hedges and Pickering participated in a year five PE session and answered a number of interesting questions posed to them by the students, including their most difficult opponent, what it is like to play for Rovers and more about their goal celebrations.
The PE session was led by Blackburn Rovers Community Trust’s Chris Brankin, who has been based at Feniscowles on a full-time basis for the last two years.
Brankin’s role is to plan and deliver all PE and sports provision alongside helping the school map out their P.E curriculum for children all the way through to year six.
Speaking after the visit, Hedges said: “We really enjoyed the visit.
"There were a lot of Rovers supporters, which is great. We had a chat with them about resilience and bouncing back if something doesn’t go their way.
“Blackburn Rovers is a real community football club and I got that feeling as soon as I walked through the door.
"The link between the fans, players and the local community is so important and we really enjoyed the visit to Feniscowles.
“If it means we can get some more new supporters then great. I remember when I was five or six years old and a player from my local team would visit our school.
"Hopefully they will remember this too for a long time."
BRCT Lead Sport and PE Coach, Mr Brankin, added: “The kids absolutely loved the players coming into school.
"They were buzzing to meet them and to be given the opportunity to ask the players some questions.
“One boy said it was ‘the best day at school ever!’ It was also one girl’s birthday and she said that was ‘the best birthday present ever Mr Brankin!’
“It’s important for players and the club to engage with the local community.
“Feniscowles is only a mile or so from Ewood Park and we have lots of kids who support Rovers.
“They are the fans of the future and days like today have given them lifelong memories. Ryan and Harry made their day by answering all their questions, signing autographs and joining in with the session.”
