Woman, 91, victim of Blackburn street mugging

A 91-YEAR-OLD woman had her bag snatched by a teen thief after she had collected her pension.

The victim had been to the post office in Ballantrae Road, Blackburn, at 10.50am on Thursday and turned onto Ayr Road when the thief took her bag, containing around £140 and ran off towards Dunoon Drive.

The bag, minus contents, was later found in Shetland Close.

Witnesses described the thief as white, in his late teens, 5ft 8ins tall, slim , with fair hair and wearing a white T-shirt and white track suit bottoms.

DS Keith Rimmer, Black-burn CID, said: "The woman was shaken but not injured. Anyone with any information should ring us on 01254 51212."
