A MAN who confronted a group of youths had chemicals thrown in his face.

The 44-year-old man felt a burning sensation and his doctor told him the liquid was probably one of the clubbing drugs, Amyl Nitrate or GHB.

Police said the man was given treatment for minor burns.

The incident happened outside his home in Lina Street, Accrington.

Officers said they wanted witnesses to contact them immediately and that they were treating it "very seriously".

The incident happened last Friday but police have only just released the details.

Officers said the man had approached a group of youths who were "messing" with coing stones in a garden across the road.

The youth who splashed the chemical of the man's face was described as 5ft 6ins tall, of a slight build with scruffy, curly black hair. He was wearing a green t-shirt with the words 'Canadian Rockies' written on the back, loose fitting jeans and blue shoes with white toe cap.

Police Constable Clare Wall said: "This was a totally unprovoked attack on a member of the community who was merely looking out for his neighbour. I would like to reassure members of the public that this type of incident is extremely rare in the area and we are treating it very seriously.

"I urge anyone with information to help us identify the youths responsible to contact us immediately."

So the little toerags have now discovered 'The Joy Of Chemicals',eh?
Issue everyone over the age of 40 with CS gas and a high-powered pellet gun and watch the verminous,sub-human scum kick and scream all the way to the Court of Human Rights...
Personally,I would arm the angry,fed-up and vulnerable people with REAL guns so that this 'under-class' of illiterate,mentally-
challenged vermin may finally realise that their actions are no longer acceptable...I suggest 'Open Season' on teenagers who think they are above the law;We should give them 'Street-Law' which entails all the pitfalls that goes with their scummy little life styles...

It's clear to me that the youth in Blackburn and other surrounding towns are completely out of control. The savage nature of many of these attacks disturbs me to the core. It should be made the number 1 priority in the country to get youths under control and to ensure they have respect and discipline. It's only a matter of time before some other innocent law abiding person is murdered by these pitiful excuses for human beings. Jack Straw, why aren't your governement doing something about this? Do something now or our streets will be ruled by malevolent teenage thugs. It's a tragedy that is blighting this country and something the rest of the world isn't aware of.

Sounds reminisent of the acid gang attacks, that once plagued the streets of glasgow. Handing out harsh centances by the courts, did discourage such behaviour.

I totally agree with Dave. Unless we get a grip of these young thugs we are letting oursevles in for a nightmare in the coming years.

Over the last 10 years, there is evidently a trend towards a complete lack of respect for other people and the law.

These little scumbags know their "rights" and are confident in the fact that they can get away with murder because of the liberal application of punishments by our justice system and the scourge of political correctness
that prevents the general public from protecting themselves.

We think it's bad now. What happens when these little scumbags grow up and realise they can profit from their anti-social and criminal behaviour whilst the State funds their lifestyle?

What happens when this filth become parents, again and again again?

When someone infringes another's "human rights", they should lose their own and should be prepared to face the consequences both from their victims and the law.

Make these reprobates fear the retribution that their actions deserve.

Yeah...they always say that, and each week there are more and more attacks on innocent people or those who stand up to these street thugs.
So come on Police Lady...get real and start sorting these thugs out big time!
