THE new licensees of The Farthings, Rosewood Avenue, Roe Lee, Blackburn, are hoping to get the pub back on track as it opens its doors for the first time in over five months.

Former barmaid and local resident Amanda McGuire, along with husband Mick, has taken over the pub and have a range events and teams lined up to get people back to the venue.

The couple have organised a karaoke for Sunday nights and are hoping to have a DJ belting out the hits on Friday's.

With a range of lagers and bitters on tap, Amanda said there were plans to get a pool team going on a Monday night and that people should pop in if they are interested.

Thinking generally about these sort of pubs 'reopening after 5 months' How the Pub Co will be rubbing it's hands. Someone else with a bit of dosh who has always wanted to run a pub. Er, why did it close 5 months ago??

Good luck to them - they've pretty much got a captive audience in Roe Lee.

RIP The Cemetery Hotel, the Thwaites Arms, the Seven Trees and the Bastwell Hotel!

Leave them alone, they are a young couple who are trying to get ahead and as for John's comment 2/10, get your facts right, the real reason the pub shut 5 months ago was because of the previous landlady, she was letting the wrong sort of people in. Put your money where your mouth is and pay the Farthings a visit or SHUT UP. I don't expect you have ever been in the pub so HOW CAN YOU COMMENT.

Just what business is it of yours how they have financed this venture, at least they have been gutsy enough to get off their backsides and give it a try.

Can I just say I've been a regular visiting the Farthings over many years and it's about time it had a decent young couple running that place, they are lovely people who just want the place to do well and for customers to feel welcome when they come in, for you with negative comments why don't you go and find out for yourselves what it's like in there before you start bad mouthing them.

Friday 23 November, what a brilliant charity night in aid of Bowel Cancer. Loads of money raised and everyone enjoyed themselves. Keep up the good work and hopefully this was the first of many.
THANKS AGAIN FOR A GREAT NIGHT .
