The move, thought to be the first of its kind in East Lancashire, is part of the college’s Keep Calm and Take a Break campaign, which is being run during the lead up to the exam season.

As well as receiving the chocolate bar through the post prospective students have also been given five revision tips including not leaving preparation until the last minute and creating a revision planner.

Anita Monaghan, the marketing manager at the college, said: “We’re really pleased with the feedback received from our revision campaign featuring a revision tips postcard and KitKat.

Lancashire Telegraph:

“The focus of the campaign is to highlight the benefits of taking regular breaks while revising, which helps to digest information better.

“The play on the KitKat theme of Take a Break seems to have really grabbed their attention and emphasised the importance of taking time out.

“GCSE exams are extremely important for young people’s futures and we know it can be a very stressful time for them – we’re keen to support our applicants in any way we can to help them achieve their best.

“The response to the campaign this year has been great and I think a lot of people have enjoyed the novelty of having a KitKat posted to them.

“We wish all our applicants the best of luck for their exams and look forward to seeing them in September.”

Brenda Rowan, senior tutor and curriculum leader for science, said: “Breaks are important when revising to minimise interference and distraction.”
