AN East Lancashire youngster proved an inspirational mascot after wishing England rugby captain Phil Vickery "good luck" before his team's triumph over Italy.
England Young Supporters' Club member James Bancroft, 11, was selected to lead out the national side at Twickenham on Saturday after his name was picked in a lucky dip.
And the England team were not let down by the Langho lad after the team's 20-7 Six Nations victory over the Italians.
The Year 7 pupil at St Mary's Hall, Stonyhurst , said: "It was a great day. I met some of the players before the game. As I went up the tunnel Phil Vickery put his arm on my shoulder and said he hoped I enjoy the game and I replied by saying Good luck'.
"I was really nervous and excited at the same time and couldn't believe it was me leading out the team.
"When I got out on the pitch the atmosphere was great. It was a good game and Italy played well."
Proud dad Craig, 46, said: "It was a proud moment and unbelievable to see it - a once in a life time opportunity for him."
