A BAND left devastated after most of their equipment was stolen from the back of a car managed to find some of the kit and take to the stage once more.

Monsters as Humans, a Burnley-based alternative rock band, lost £2,500 worth of guitars and pedal boards in the theft last weekend.

But thanks to the generosity of friends and after one of the stolen bass guitars was returned to them, they forgot their troubles to perform at talent show Reidy’s Exposure.

Bass guitarist David Kostilek, 31, said: “It was good to get back performing and we were able to cobble together replacements for the stuff we had stolen over the weekend.

“We borrowed some things from people we knew and from people in other bands.

“We actually got the bass back on Tuesday night.

“The police came round with it as someone had taken it to Cash Converters.” David said it had been good therapy for the band - which also includes Anthony Cole, Michael Bracewell and Jake Sainty - to come together.

He said: “It is still quite annoying that we have stuff missing but we are just trying to make the best of a bad situation.

“We managed the performance but it wasn’t the best.

“To me, you could hear the difference as when you are used to using the specific gear you can hear it.

“But it was the first time we got together as a band since the theft so it was good to talk about it and have a laugh.

“We have another gig in Manchester on March 7 so we are still trying to cobble stuff together for that.

“We don’t want to pay for replacements yet in case some it still turns up.”

The equipment, stolen between 10.30pm on Friday and 5.15am on Saturday, included a modified Fender Japanese Geddy Lee Signature Bass and a Schecter Omen 6 Extreme vintage sunburst guitar.

Anyone who knows about the stolen items should contact police on 101 quoting log number 291 of Saturday, February 21.
