A WOULD-BE bridegroom ‘popped the question’ to his girlfriend – thanks to a little help from King of the Jungle Carl Fogarty.

The former world superbike champ helped his long-time friend Miles Pollard propose to his partner of six and-a-half years under the hot summer sun in Phuket, Thailand.

The I’m a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! winner thrilled a crowd of holidaymakers at Nikki Beach in the resort by carrying Miles on a motorbike around a pool.

After climbing off the bike, 27-year-old Miles, clutching an Olympic torch type flame and champagne, got down on one knee and popped the question to Emma Frost.

After she said yes, Foggy popped the cork and sprayed champagne over the happy couple while the throng of tourists captured the jubilant scenes on their mobile phones.

Speaking from Thailand yesterday, self-employed farrier Miles, from Mellor said: “I was a little bit nervous. I got on the bike with the champagne and all the people were there, and we had to distract Emma.

“We had to say Carl was riding through for some press. Carl’s wife Michaela, and our two friends Chris and Louise Monk got her to the front.

“Then I jumped off the back and went down on one knee.”

The video of the proposal was viewed over 56,000 times in just eight hours when Carl posted a clip online.

But wedding bells aren’t on the horizon just yet, Miles said.

“We are both really happy but we are in the process of finding land to build a house on, so we’ll probably get married in three or four years,” he said.

Miles, who also helps to run the long-running family business, James Pollard and Sons, on the Trans Britannia Industrial Estate in Farrington Road, Burnley, and Emma, also 27, will return from their two-week holiday on Friday.

He has been friends with Carl for ‘many years’, he said, and had planned to propose with his help earlier, but postponed his plans after a bout of bad weather in Thailand.
