A £325,000 Highways Agency project to carry out carriageway maintenance and improvements along sections of the M65 around Blackburn will be delivered over the next few months.

The work will take place along sections of the motorway between junction four at Blackburn South and junction 10 at Padiham.

Highways Agency project manager John Lyssejko said: “We will be doing all we can to ensure it is delivered with as little inconvenience as possible.”

The improvements include renewing or refreshing all carriageway lane and slip road white lines and all road studs between junction seven at Rishton and junction 10, carrying out similar work between junction four and junction seven and repairing slip road lighting at junction eight at Accrington with a full lighting renewal scheme for the junction to follow.

The slip road lighting repairs should be completed by the end of next week with the rest of the work completed by the end of March.

The work between junction seven and junction 10 incorporates the motorway “full switch off zone” where main carriageway lighting was switched off in March 2011 as part of an initiative to contribute to cutting carbon emissions.
