CLAYTON-LE-MOORS bakery Clayton Pies is snowed under with orders this festive season – with the focus on sweet treats rather than savoury pastries for the terraces.
General manager Brian Ashworth said Christmas was the Petre Road firm’s busiest time of the year.

He said: “We are focused more on sweet pastries such as mince pies, snowman biscuits and Christmas cakes, which are the big sellers at this time of year.”
Clayton Park produces a wide variety of pies, cakes and breads, and is the official pie supplier to a number of football clubs including Blackburn Rovers and Accrington Stanley.
Earlier this year, a record number of hot cross buns – more than 100,000 packs – were produced in time for Easter.
The firm, which supplies pies to major supermarkets, underwent a rebranding this year.
