A FORMER St Mary’s College Art student, Aimee Laing, is to have her work detailing the wonder and beauty of a local park shown in an exhibition which runs until the end of January.

Aimee will be showcasing her work in her first solo exhibition this month.

The photography exhibition is a community project themed around Rhyddings Park.

The work is designed around the theme of raising awareness of its history in the community and will be hosted at the Civic Arts Centre in Oswaldtwistle.

The exhibition includes photographs of the park ‘from a different angle’. Accompanying the work will be old photographs of the park and details of its history.

Following a formal launch on Saturday, December 13 for invited local dignitaries, friends of the civic and members of the community, the exhibition will be open to the public for six weeks.

The Civic Arts Centre in Oswaldtwistle is also holding a Christmas Variety Show on Wednesday, December 17.

Billed as a ‘brilliant night of entertainment’ the evening will feature performances from groups using the centre including ReAct, Dramatic Annie, Friday Drama Club, East Lancashire Concert Band, Skoot, Cast and Dance Force.

Tickets are available from the Civic Art centre and cost £3.

The centre has a rolling programme of exhibitions.

Those wishing to exhibit there can contact the centre.
